How are you feeling about the protests going on in Washington, D.C.?
Juan: I think D.C. is no different than so many other cities across the country. What we’re seeing is a global support mounting for this thing that we have been facing for so many years. It’s great to see that support coming from all corners of the globe.
Lisa: There were thousands of people that were out last night demonstrating and protesting peacefully, and we’re proud of D.C. We’re proud of our people. We just believe in God and trust that he’s ultimately in control. We do our part and make sure that our voices are heard.
What advice do you want to share with people during these difficult times?
Juan: There is a proverb that keeps coming to mind which simply says, “An offended brother or sister is more difficult to reason with or to win than a fortified city.” The fact is, our community is full of angry and offended brothers and sisters. To us, I would say, “Don’t let your anger make you make illogical or irrational decisions.”
