We’ve seen you go from an abusive relationship with your daughter’s father to a happy wife and mother for the second time. People joke about wanting to know Ciara’s prayer, but we’d like to know what Eva’s prayer was. Can you share what made the difference?

I did pray, but ultimately, I stopped entertaining what wasn’t serving me. Sometimes we need to do self-evaluation and make different choices for ourselves. With Michael, things were totally different, but I was ready for change.


What do you see as your biggest responsibility toward your husband?

I try to show up consistently for Michael. That consistency is so important. It’s not always the things people focus on that really make your marriage solid. Being present and being committed to being there for that person every single day, regardless of what’s going on around you or to you, is key.
