Chloe Bailey became emotional as she defended posting what some considered a sexually risque video of herself. A number of Twitter users were taken aback by her provocative display, which they say runs counter to her wholesome image, while some celebrities came to her defense.
Bailey, 22, who formed the popular R&B duo ChloexHalle with her sister Halle, took to Instagram Live on Sunday evening, Jan. 31, 2021, to explain her state of mind when she posted a video of herself in a T-shirt and panties and gyrating sexually on top of her bed.
My energy in a video.
I’m a nudist, a spiritualist, a dancer, singer, artist, just a vibe. I love to see it ❤️ #ChloeBailey pic.twitter.com/OR5PUZhqYa— ☥ Bali Truth (@PrimeTimeLove) January 30, 2021
“For every woman out there, don’t change who you are to make society feel comfortable. And I’m telling myself that’s not what I’m going to do, and even when I posted the video yesterday, I was posting it because I was saging and doing Palo Santa and I was like, ‘Let’s spread positive vibes,’” she told her 1.5 Instagram live followers.
“I didn’t even really notice you all would talk about my a– because I’m like, ‘OK, I’m just walking in for one second, two seconds…’ You know? And I feel like I’ve shown my a– more than I have with that, like if you look at our performance videos, the last performance we had in December. Like, I was just so excited and on stage, and just being myself, so… I don’t know.”
Some of Bailey’s celebrity contemporaries wrapped a protective circle around the young chanteuse, including actress Gabrielle Union.
Perfectly said. Feel this 🖤 and know we gotchu. @chloexhalle please continue to fly. Soaring while under attack is hard asf but you are not alone. Never alone. We gotchu. Keep shining! https://t.co/RgtDYV0dg9

Not surprisingly, Bailey’s sister Halle endorsed the video enthusiastically with a one-word validation: “beauty.”
Ebony Davis concurred, writing, “sweat babyyy.”
