Goodell further added in the letter to Biden, “We look forward to further discussion with your administration as well as your partners in state and local governments to advance this effort. Thank you for your leadership and for allowing the NFL to assist your public health efforts.”
Not one to back down from a crisis, the new President has accepted the offer. He admitted that the previous administration was not forthcoming in how behind the country was in tackling the pandemic.
President Biden spoke on CBS’s Super Bowl pregame show and told reporter Norah O’Donnell, “It’s a national emergency. … Absolutely we will. I’m going to tell my team the stadiums are available and I believe we’ll use them.”
The next NFL season doesn’t kick off until Sept. 4. This leaves the government plenty of time to put the stadiums to good use as vaccination sites.
