“I’ve always been an intentional parent because I was taught to be one from my mom,” Willis said. She also followed in her mother’s footsteps by being involved with various community organizations in Atlanta.
Willis admits that the pandemic has presented her with many teachable moments. “COVID-19 unveiled the fact that we don’t have as much control, interaction and energy [to keep up with] our kids as we thought we did,” she said. “We get a second chance to reengage with our kids.”
The positive reaction she’s received since the book’s release has made Willis marvel. “People love the book,” she said. “People who don’t have kids read the book and say, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m doing this.’ I had no idea that the response would be [so] good.”
Willis reiterates that the book is for those people who want help and seek different options for parenting. “These are just tenets for helping to ensure that your kids will intentionally be placed to change the world,” she said.
