BeBe Jones of The L.E.G.A.C.Y. Organization shares the importance of HBCUs

Why is it important for these students to have information regarding financial literacy and networking?

As the saying goes, “your network is your net worth.” We understand that these skills aren’t always the focal point within the curriculum because these skills are more hands-on, and this is where we come in.

Financial literary is extremely vital for college students to break negative relationships with money by creating more productive habits through our financial literacy + networking forums. These forums will be taught by fellow alumni to create a liaison between the undergraduates and alumni experts.

What is next for the organization?

The L.E.G.A.C.Y. Organization is developing a scholarship foundation on behalf of out-of-state students attending Jackson State University. We will be including an HBCU tour for inner-city high school students, and routine donation drives to assist students throughout the year. Our goal is to touch every HBCU campus. We want our students to know that we truly have their best interest at heart.
