The mandatory minimum sentence for the offense is five years of supervised release which would be a huge break for Nicki Minaj’s husband. The maximum sentence Petty could have received would have been ten years in the federal penitentiary and a supervised lifetime release. Petty now awaits the judge’s decision who will also consider his past criminal history.
In 1994 Hough, then 16, told police that Petty, who was also 16, raped her after leading her into a home at knifepoint. Petty was arrested and charged with first-degree rape, and subsequently pleaded guilty to attempted rape.
“I’m hoping for the truth to come out, and whatever comes from that truth, to let it be. After everything that has happened, it’s like, these people were willing to sacrifice me so this guy could remain in the public eye. I feel like my family was willing to sacrifice me,” Hough told the Daily Beast earlier this year.
