Meet Foxfrd, the rapping video game animator

Were there ever times in school or now as a professional where you saw a lack of Black peers in the field?

Absolutely. To be honest, I think it was far and few. I don’t know, it could be just the accessibility to the tuition. The tuition is kind of expensive for the school that I went to, at least.

It being a tech field, you kind of need equipment, gear and a lot of tech to just practice it, if you wanted to be good prior to going to college, or have a good portfolio.

In my experience, I’m not saying this is in every case, but there were very few other, Black creators trying to pursue game development. At the time I was in school, I was maybe one out of six in like, a year of the curriculum. The school I went to is Full Sail University, they have a new class every month. So imagine, in a year, that’s 12 different sets of a graduating class, and I didn’t still see that many Black creators. It was a little rare. It still is rare, even in the industry as well.
