The man accused of shooting and killing rap legend Nipsey Hussle has been badly beaten inside the Los Angeles County Jail, according to media reports.
Holder, 32, was unable to attend his trial. Holder is accused of killing the hip-hop icon at the Marathon Clothing store the rapper owned in South Los Angeles on March 31, 2019.
Holder was in a holding cell waiting to be transported to the Los Angeles County courthouse on June 28 when he was allegedly attacked by multiple people and suffered what Rolling Stone describes as “more than a black eye.”
The judge subsequently ordered the jury to return to the courtroom on Wednesday, July 29, 2022.
“Based on some unforeseen circumstances that are no fault of parties here, we won’t be in session today,” Judge H. Clay Jacke reportedly announced in court on Tuesday, according to the publication.
Holder, who is allegedly a member of the Rollin’ 60s gang that Hussle was also a member of, believes Hussle had accused him of “snitching” to law enforcement and allegedly enacted retribution.
Holder was charged with one count of first degree-murder in relation to Hussle’s death. He was also charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder because two bystanders were hit by gunfire, according to The Associated Press. Holder has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
