A witness in the highly charged criminal case against Young Thug and Gunna has been threatened, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office in Atlanta revealed.
District Attorney Fani Willis told WSB-TV that her office discovered that part of a witness’ testimony was leaked and then posted on social media. Now, the lives of the witness and his or her children have been imperiled.
An investigation is currently underway to learn the source of that leak.
Young Thug’s attorney, Brian Steel, said the unfortunate leak not only puts people at risk but it also impacts the jury pool.
“Whomever is placing items of discovery online is not doing anybody a favor. It is totally inappropriate to try this case in social media. This case will be tried fairly and justly in Fulton County Superior Court,” Steel said.
This news comes on the heels of the district attorney filing more charges against Young Thug, who is the most well-known defendant along with Gunna and two dozen others. These charges include an additional gang charge, more drug charges, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a machine gun.
Despite the precarious situation that Thugger finds himself in, his attorney remains unconcerned that the rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, will be exonerated.
“Mr. Williams has committed no crime whatsoever. I look forward to the commencement of the jury trial,” Steel told the television station.
