Brandon Miller took his frustrations out on the court. On Feb. 22 at South Carolina, the Alabama men’s basketball star put on a performance for the ages with 41 points and scoring the game-tying basket to send the game into overtime as well as the game-winning basket in overtime.

The 41-point mark is a career high for the freshman.

Miller, who’s projected to picked in the top three of the 2023 NBA Draft, was on fire after his name was mentioned in testimony for a murder investigation the day before. Tuscaloosa detective Branden Culpepper testified Miller brought Darius Miles’ gun to him after Miles texted Miller and asked for it back.

Miles was Miller’s teammate at the time. On the night Miller returned the gun to Miles, 23-year-old mother Jamea Jonae Harris was shot and killed near Alabama’s campus. Miles is accused of bringing the gun to the scene, although he didn’t pull the trigger. Miles has been charged with murder, but Miller is not expected to be in any legal trouble, a deputy district attorney told AL.com.

Social media reacted to Miller’s outstanding performance.

“Brandon Miller dropping 40 in the middle of murder accusations might be the coldest s— I’ve ever seen,” @IQfor3 tweeted.

“Last night Brandon Miller went off for 41 points despite all the controversy and being booed constantly by South Carolina fans,” @Vator_H_Town tweeted. “Made a shot in the fourth to force overtime and hit the game winner. Obviously extremely talented. Interested to see how this story plays out.”
