Eating Cup Noodles in the cup was the wrong thing to do this entire time. It might’ve even been dangerous.
Cup Noodles have been a go-to quick meal for decades, mainly because they’re low-budget and quick to make. All you have to do is add water, put them in the microwave, and it’s time to eat.
The cup that the noodles are in is made of polystyrene, which is not considered microwave-safe.
When the cup is exposed to high temperatures, the cup can melt or release harmful chemicals into the food. Have no fear because the brand is launching a cup that will be safe to eat in, making it more convenient for consumers.
In 2024, Cup Noodles will be debuting a new paper cup that will be applied across all the flavors, which include chicken, beef, shrimp, spicy, curry, and vegetable. The new cup is made of 40% recycled fiber, will feature a sleeve made with 100% recycled paper, and will not require plastic wrap.

Instead of having to boil the water and add it to the cup, you’ll now be able to add the water and put it in the microwave. Hopefully, from now until next year, people will eat the noodles correctly until the new cup debuts.
