Hue Jackson‘s next stop appears to be Atlanta.
The football coach is reportedly expected to get hired by Morehouse College as the Maroon Tigers’ new coach. Kyle T. Mosley of HBCU Legends reported the Atlanta college is currently negotiating with Jackson’s representation at ROC NATION.
Morehouse had one of the more intriguing HBCU openings in the country after firing 1992 graduate Gerad Wilcher after one season. Wilcher had a record of 1-9 in his one year at the helm. NFL legend Ray Lewis was rumored to be in the running before Wilcher was hired ahead of the 2023 season. Ironically, Lewis’ longtime teammate in Baltimore, Maryland, Ed Reed, expressed interest in becoming Morehouse’s next coach on X, formerly known as Twitter. Reed worked with his alma mater at the University of Miami before taking the head coaching gig at Bethune-Cookman University. The school let Reed go before the season started after Reed repeatedly blasted the HBCU for its lack of resources.
Jackson went 8-14 in his two seasons as Grambling’s head coach. The former NFL head coach’s move to HBCU football made headlines as he followed the likes of Deion Sanders and Eddie George in the space. Jackson is also rumored to be in the running for joining Antonio Pierce’s staff as an assistant with the Las Vegas Raiders.
