Nicki Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, will have to fork over a little more than $500,000 per a judge’s ruling on behalf of a German security guard for an alleged physical assault that took place backstage at a concert in 2019.
On Friday, March 22 a default judgment was made in favor of security professional Thomas Weidenmuller by a Los Angeles judge after Weidenmuller filed suit against Minaj and Petty with claims that Petty broke his jaw in retaliation for perceived “disrespect” against Minaj.
Weidenmuller claims that after a fan breached security barricades and made it on stage with Minaj, the 41-year old rapper became enraged with the female security worker she believed to be at fault and verbally berated her while recording the incident on her cell phone. According to Weidenmuller, when he he spoke out in defense of the woman, Minaj is alleged to have thrown a shoe at him before he was sucker-punched by Petty leaving him “stunned and disoriented.”
“I felt a blinding pain in my head, neck, face and jaw,” Weidenmuller said in his complaint. “I could tell in that instant that something was seriously wrong with my jaw.”
“I now have five plates in my jaw, and my jaw has not yet been fully reconstructed,” he continued. “The doctors must still insert implants into my jaw as a part of the reconstruction process. In the interim, the doctors have inserted donor bones from a deceased person into my mouth in order to preserve space for the future implants.”
Though Weidenmuller initially sought $753,000 for pain and suffering plus $21,000 for medical expenses, the judge in the case issued a default judgement of $503,318.
Minaj and Petty failed to respond to numerous attempts of being served the lawsuit.
