Bronny James has declared for the 2024 NBA Draft.
The story, which was reported by Shams Charania, says James was going to work out for and visit NBA teams and will make his final draft decision based on the evaluation. Earlier this week, James entered the NCAA transfer portal. The University of Southern California just hired former Arkansas coach Eric Musselman as its new men’s basketball head coach.
James is the 19-year-old son of NBA legend LeBron James who said he wants to play with or against Bronny before he retires.
This past season as a freshman at USC, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He began the season late after suffering cardiac arrest in offseason workouts last summer. Coming out of Sierra Canyon High School, James was named a McDonald’s All-American where he participated in the dunk contest and hit a late three-pointer that gave his team a lead in the competitive exhibition.
James has been complimented for his basketball IQ, athleticism, shooting ability and defense. His main criticism has been his lack of aggressiveness on the offensive side of the ball because oftentimes, he makes the best decision for his team with the ball in his hands as opposed to forcing bad shots. As a freshman, James averaged 4.5 field goal attempts in 19.4 minutes per contest.
