Former NFL star Ryan Clark went thermonuclear on fellow ex-footballer Robert Griffin III for his extremely disparaging remarks aimed at WNBA star Angel Reese.
Clark, a former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back, laid a crushing blow on Griffin (nicknamed “RGIII”) when he eviscerated the ex-NFL quarterback for denigrating Reese and saying she hates WNBA juggernaut Caitlin Clark.
Robert Griffin III says Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark
The explosive argument happened after RGIII said that he doesn’t care what Angel Reese says publicly, he declared authoritatively that Reese hates Clark.
“Guys, it’s so obvious that Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark,” Griffin said in a video posted on Twitter. His wife, who is White, is sitting in the background as Griffin goes off on Reese, a Black woman.
“I know what hatred looks like. Angel Reese hates Caitlin Clark. Not some basketball rivalry hate, either. Hate,” he said vehemently and repeatedly.
Ryan Clark torches Robert Griffin III, aka RGIII
Ryan, who despite his surname is not related to Caitlin, took great exception to RGIII’s comments and clapped back on his “Pivot” podcast, saying that RGIII doesn’t sympathize with Reese’s plight of being constantly attacked because he is married to a White woman.
“The one thing we know about RG3 is he’s not having conversations at his home about what Black women have to endure in this country, about what young Black women and athletes like Angel Reese have had to deal with being on the opposite side of Caitlin Clark’s rise and ascension into stardom,” Ryan Clark said in a video on Twitter.

Ryan Clark and Robert Griffin III were teammates with Washington in 2014. Later, the two were co-workers at ESPN from 2021-2024.
That’s what makes this situation all the more appalling in Ryan’s eyes. “Now, if you’re RG3, when was the last time within your household you’ve had a conversation about what (Reese) is dealing with? You haven’t been able to do that, because in both of your marriages you’ve been married to White women,” Ryan said about RGIII.
RGIII claps back at Ryan Clark
RGIII later returned to his eponymous show, this time absent of his White wife, and excoriated Clark for bringing his spouse into a sports conversation.
“There’s a line you don’t cross in life and Ryan Clark sprinted past it,” RG3 posted on Twitter. “Let me be clear. It is wildly inappropriate, wrong and extremely low to weaponize and attack a person’s wife, marriage and their family because you disagree with a sports take.”
Griffin continued, saying, “Disagree with me all you want. Challenge my take. But keep my family and wife out of it. That’s a boundary that should always be respected. Ryan Clark personally attacking me and my family personally over a sports opinion is cowardly, spineless, and weak.”
Ryan Clark calls RGIII a ‘phony’
Clark responded to RGIII with pure venom. He took off after RGIII like a torpedo zeroing in on a stationary target.
“You’re a phony, bro. One of the worst teammates I ever had both on the field and in TV,“ Ryan Clark said.
Clark added that he “saved” RGIII on ESPN’s “Monday Night Football” show.
“I urged people to let you be you. No matter how corny, how bad a teammate you were I had your back,” Clark said. “What did you do? Invite someone on your show you know I don’t fool with to ask questions about me, and then hit me weeks later to tell me you’re gonna challenge one of my takes!”
