If any rapper knows a thing or two about sex, its Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell. The former 2 Live Crew frontman rose to fame in the late 1980s with raunchy raps and sexually explicit stage shows, resulting in he and his group becoming one of the most notorious and controversial acts in music. Today, Campbell focuses his energies on civic activities in his hometown of Miami. He’s run for mayor and coaches a youth football team. He even contributes a column to the Miami Herald.
And Luke is partnering with b Condoms to promote safe sex. The Miami bass legend announced that he wants to do his part to stop the spread of STDs and teen pregnancy among inner-city youth.
“I am very excited to partner with b Condoms to advocate safe sex,” Uncle Luke told AllHipHop. “Teen pregnancy and STDs are mostly impacting African Americans and Latinos and I want to help make a difference. It’s time for everyone to go platinum.”
Luke will be donating 5,000 Platinum XL b Condoms to nonprofit organizations in the Miami area this summer. Campbell will also donate 1,000 Platinum XL b condoms during the Florida Fashion Designers Expo Florida taking place in Miami.
“B Condoms is excited to partner with Mr. Campbell on this effort to promote safe sex in underserved communities,” Reginald Thornton, Director of Marketing for b Condoms explained. “Mr. Campbell is an iconic figure for his contributions to music, sports and at-risk youth and we believe this partnership provides a unique opportunity to extend his impact to community health.”
