Nelly recently marched with protesters in Ferguson, Missouri. The St. Louis-raised rapper faced backlash during the weekend after he told TMZ, “We don’t get no do-over on s— like this, so we have to do it right the first time,” Nelly said.

Some on Twitter viewed Nelly’s statement as counterproductive to the black community.

Nelly decided to make a trip to Ferguson after spending the weekend in L.A. After marching with protesters, Nelly made a statement regarding the heated situation.

“There are more brothers in college than in jail. But they want you to believe [otherwise]. I asked people when I came here if there were more brothers in college than in jail. We have more doctors, teachers, black millionaires, black billionaires. You got options. We got to understand we have options. You have to stop choosing the reaction option.

At the end of the day, our brothers will be the ones who will be in jail. It’s a chain reaction. It’s about the [Michael] Brown family, it ain’t about your family now.”

Along with Nelly, other celebrities to march in Ferguson include J. Cole and KeKe Palmer.
