Nicci Gilbert unsure about ‘R&B Divas’ season 3

“R&B Divas” was spilling over with drama last season as friendships between a number of the ladies fractured, and by season’s end most of the ladies were questioning whether or not they wanted to return to the show. Now, Nicci Gilbert, the show’s co-creator, as well as the most polarizing cast member, is claiming that a third season of the show may not happen.

In a recent interview with Hip Hollywood, Gilbert explained that she hopes that, if there is a season three, it will be a lot more positive than season two.

“Hopefully, what the third season will be is about us healing,” said Gilbert, adding that the show’s future is still in the air. “We’ll see where we end up with season three.”

Fellow co-creator and cast member, Faith Evans, who took a hiatus from the show mid-season, explained that she was disappointed with the way drama between the cast took over the entire show.

“I’m happy with the success and I’m very thankful to God for those things, but we weren’t as involved creatively. So, I think things took a turn differently than what we initially had in mind,” said Evans.

One of the major dramas of last season came in the form of a feud between Gilbert and Angie Stone, who criticized Gilbert’s charity with her daughter, as well as her clothing line, Curvato. Gilbert claims that she was glad to clarify rumors about her business during the reunion, and claims that, despite Stone’s claims, her clothing line is made by American designers.

“Now it’s all over online that I get my clothes made in China because of something Angie Stone said,” Nicci explained. “In my boutique — because everyone can’t afford a custom Curvato piece of clothes for $200 — I sell the look for less and it states that when you go and buy it.”

And though Gilbert claims that she’s only friends with Keke Wyatt, Monifah and Evans now, she says that she hopes season three will show the ladies stopping the drama and working things out.

“The good part about that is that you can always show something go bad and then go good again,” she Gilbert. “Everybody loves a comeback story.”
