Legendary rapper and Hennessy V.S brand ambassador NAS, performed at the sold out Dave Chappelle & NAS show at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. The Queensbridge poet relaxed backstage before the show laughing and talking with Fabolous, Steve Stout, Busta Rhymes, DJ D-Nice, Michael Rapaport and Shawn Wayans.
NAS hit the stage following a 45 minute comedy set by Dave Chappelle, in a red, snakeskin print tuxedo jacket over a black collared shirt and slacks, completing the look with a gold medallion. NAS blew the crowd away with a special performance of “Illmatic” backed by a 40-piece orchestra. Images of his album cover, his neighborhood in Queensbridge and his childhood photos were displayed on the giant screens besides the stage while he performed flawlessly.
NAS noted his relentless pursuit to Never stop. Never settle. throughout his career in his address to the crowd before jumping straight into a medley of his most classics hits throughout his 20 year career. The hometown crowd sang along with NAS while he performed classic hits including “Hate Me Now,” “Made U Look,” If I Ruled The World,” and “I Can”. NAS closed out the show with “One Mic” and was greeted by Dave Chappelle as he walked off stage.
Nas ended the night at Catch, where he celebrated with friends and sipped on Hennessy V.S cocktails.
Adding to his accolades, Radio City Music Hall is the latest in a string of impressive and legendary venues that NAS has played in 2014 in celebration of Illmatic’s 20 year anniversary, including New York’s Beacon Theater to celebrate the premiere of his feature documentary “Time is Illmatic” and D.C’s Kennedy Center. Paying homage to his drink of choice and the first brand mentioned in Illmatic, NAS embarked on year two of the “Wild Rabbit” campaign with luxury cognac, Hennessy. His voice is currently being featured in “The Man Who Couldn’t Slow Down,” a 60 second spot about the record breaking feats of Sir Malcolm Campbell, running currently on cable networks country-wide.
