Phaedra Parks has been silent about her crumbling marriage to Apollo Nida ever since he was sentenced to 8 years in prison for identity theft and bank fraud this summer. But recently, reps for “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star revealed that she’s divorcing Nida, and now Parks has opened up to daytime talk show queen Ellen Degeneres about her failed marriage.
Parks appeared on “Ellen” yesterday and when she was aksed whether she knew about Nida’s criminal activities, Parks swore that she was completely unaware.
“I really didn’t. I mean, I work. I just got my fifth college degree. And so I’m pretty much an overachiever. I have two very small children. I just stopped breast-feeding three months ago and so, I didn’t have any idea this was going on until he called me and he said, ‘Hey, you know, I’ve been arrested and I’m having this problem, but it’s not true.’ So I went out of my way to get him the best attorneys, the best investigators, and to do everything I could, because I’m an attorney myself and so I wanted him to have the best so that we could fight this together, but obviously it did not turn out like that,” Parks explained.
And although Nida had previously been to prison, Parks explained that she believed Nida had cleaned up his act with her.
“Well, to be honest, he had been to prison and he was a changed person. So the person I married, I thought he was changed,” Parks explained.
Somehow we still find it hard to believe that Parks didn’t know about Nida’s criminal life, but that’s not all that Parks discussed with Ellen. Read what she had to say about being a new single parent and her cheating accusations after the cut. – nicholas robinson
