Founded by Xernona Clayton, each year it gets better, and this year was no exception as the show opened with a performance by Salt, Pepa, Spinderella, Monie Love, YoYo and MC Lyte, who got the show started in rare hip-hop party form. Al B. Sure! served as the show's announcer; Terrence J and Nia Long were the hosts. There were also 20 "Women of Congress" that represented well on the red carpet. This year’s celebrity presenters and performers included Michael Ealy, Christian Keyes, Deitrick Haddon, Kelly Price, Raheem DeVaughn, Vivian Green, Joe, Regina Hall, Tweet and Andra Day.
