I had a relaxing afternoon at the Marina at Lake Lanier yesterday with my friends Kurt and Lisa Backus. They own Atlanta Marine, an exclusive State of Georgia dealership for all sorts of fancy toys like Supra luxury inboard boats, Moomba tournament inboard boats, Monterey yachts and runabouts, Everglades fishing boats and Playcraft and Hampton pontoon boats.
We met for lunch to discuss some business affairs. While there, Kurt informed me of the Lake Lanier World Record Raft-Up. The Raft-Up will be held June 11. I can’t wait to attend to witness the setting of the Guinness World Record for the largest number of boats rafted and tied together.
While chatting with Kurt and his lovely wife, Lisa, we had an afternoon lunch at Fish Tales Lakeside Grille right by the marina. What a relaxing lunch it was! I had the crab cake sandwich with grilled corn, Kurt had the fish tacos, and Lisa had the fish platter. Owner W. Dale Ozaki came out and introduced himself to me as the proprietor and said that he used to work at the restaurant when it was under another name. He worked his way up, then later purchased the place and gave it a new name.
He owns the restaurant with his wife, both of whom are college students as well. The food was fantastic and flavorful. Looking out at the water makes it a great place to take a date or bring the kids for a day of sun, relaxation and great food! I would like to thank Kurt and Lisa for inviting me out for the day. I can’t wait for the Raft-Up!
