Radcliffe Bailey is an extremely talented artist based in Atlanta. Sir Elton John is a huge fan and buyer. On Saturday, June 25, 2011, Bailey held a private guild reception for his highly anticipated opening of “Radcliffe Bailey: Memory as Medicine” exhibit at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta. “Memory as Medicine” has three thematic sections: “Water,” “Blues” and “Blood.” He also will display 37 pieces including paintings, sculptures, mixed media, metals and photo images. I can’t wait to see them!
I had the opportunity to go to the cocktail party, and it was amazing! People came dressed to the nines with lots of celebrity sightings in the room. Bailey, his lovely wife, Victoria Rowell, Boris Kodjoe, Nicole Ari Parker, Julius “Dr. J” Erving and his fashionable wife, Dorys, and Kenny Leon were in attendance, along with Mayor Kasim Reed and many other socialites and political figures. Tickets for the event were $750…pricey, but it was for a good cause. The catered food and decorations were provided by A Legendary Event, and there was live entertainment. Later, guests went on a private guided tour of the exhibit. It was a grand affair with many fashionable ladies in great shoes! I would like to thank Liz Lapidus PR for the personal invitation. –tammie reed
