Summer’s Best Dinner Party at Whole Foods

Summer's Best Dinner Party at Whole Foods
Kirsten and Brad, Whole Food Staff

On June 29, I was invited out to a Summer’s Best Dinner Party at Whole Foods in Sandy Springs, Ga. Some of the other stores host these dinner parties with Whole Foods shoppers and other guests who purchase tickets.

I arrived to a brightly decorated table with fresh flowers, gingham print napkins and place cards. Our hosts for the evening, Kirsten and Brad, introduced themselves and went over everything on the menu. They also talked about the various wines we would be trying with our five-course meal. Three culinary-trained chefs prepared the meals.

On the menu:

  • Local peach gazpacho featuring local lane orchard peaches with La Puerta Torrontes 2010
  • Braised chicken wings with celery root puree and blue cheese espuma with PRA Soave 2009
  • Sweet tea-braised pork belly atop a crispy potato raft and wilted dandelion greens with Mary Elke Pinot Noir 2009
  • Skin-off/skin-on salmon with root vegetable pave with J Rickards Zinfandel 2007
  • Layered panna cotta with Del Rio Rose Jolie Early Muscat 2009
  • I really enjoyed the Sweet-tea braised pork belly. It was full of flavor, and the crispy potato raft was delicious. I also enjoyed the skin-off/skin-on salmon — very flavorful and healthy for the diet I am trying. I’m not really a wine-drinker, but the J Rickards Zinfandel was good. I enjoyed mingling with all the guests, and thanks to the staff at Whole Foods of Sandy Springs, Ga. –tammie reed
