This past weekend, football great Deion “Primetime” Sanders made his way to Atlanta. He was here to celebrate his 2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame nomination with his former teammates and celebrity friends. The gala was held at the 2oo Peachtree venue with a “strictly enforced” black and red attire fashion requirement.

The very long red carpet was a huge attraction for onlookers who viewed the happenings behind barricades up and down Peachtree Street. There even was an announcer standing on the stage letting the crowd know who was headed down the carpet. It had to be at least 5o media outlets in attendance from all the local news stations to sport channels and more.

The Sanders pulled up in a mobile coach bus with family, friends and former teammates. Sanders and his stunning wife, Pilar, were decked out in coordinating outfits. Deion wore a burgundy shirt, black pin-stripped suit with red buttons and a red, paisley-print tie. Pilar wore a black, flowing, backless evening gown with black designer stilettos. Her diamond jewels blinded me when I looked down at her wrist and ring finger. Wow!

Others who hit the red carpet included plenty of NFL players, past and present; Chili, who also made a cameo appearance in ‘Single Ladies’ on VH1 with Pilar; Olympic gold medalist Natasha Hastings; and baseball great Brian Jordan and his expectant wife. Inside the party, it was red decor throughout the venue. Grey Goose was the official liquor sponsor, and R&B baby-maker Keith Sweat performed! He did an amazing job. The VIP section was on the upper level as people mingled, sipped on cocktails and snacked on nibbles.

It was a great affair, and I would like to thank Ayanna for the personal invitation. –tammie reed
