Petey Pablo is headed to the big house after being sentenced to 35 months in a federal prison after pleading guilty earlier this year to possession of a stolen firearm.
According to Billboard’s The Juice, the rapper, born Moses Barrett III, was handed the nearly three year sentence in the U.S District Court in New Bern, N.C., on Sept. 26.
Pablo’s sentence comes just over a year after he was arrested at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Sept. 11, 2010, when airport security discovered a 9mm handgun and ammunition in his carry-on luggage after it passed through an X-ray machine.
Things went further downhill for the “Raise Up” rapper, a convicted felon who previously spent six years in prison for armed robbery in the ‘90s, once it was discovered that the gun was stolen. According to authorities, the investigation showed that the gun was stolen during a home invasion in Gardena, Calif., in 2005.
In March, Pablo entered into a guilty plea agreement with federal prosecutors in exchange for them dropping two other charges; possession of a firearm by a felon and attempting to take the gun onto the plane. –nicholas robinson
