How did you get into the exotic dancing business?
I got into dancing by default. Back in the day, I was involved in the drug trade and doing things I had no business doing, and I fell on some hard times. One of the guys that was dancing at the time came into the department store where I was working as a security guard and he talked me into coming down and giving it a try. I saw the money they were making and I thought, “hey, this might be the job for me.”
How did you break into radio?
I became a radio personality through Wanda Smith; she asked me to get on the commercials and our program director, Reggie Ross, heard my voice and gave me a shot. I did my air check and it’s been a year to the day that I’ve been working at V-103, the biggest radio station in the urban market.
Is dancing a recession-proof industry?
Ain’t no recession when you’re undressin’. Life is good right now.
How would you describe the lifestyle of a typical male dancer? What is your life like?
My life is not stereotypical of a male dancer. The average male dancer has sex and rock ‘n’ roll, girls, partying. I have children, for me it’s a whole different situation, plus I’m an entrepreneur, I do everything. I see this as a business, I am not looking to just make that quick buck; I’m looking at the longevity.
How old are your children?
My oldest daughter is 20; I have a 16-year-old daughter and a 6-year-old son.
Do your children know what you do for a living?
Yes. My [younger] daughter is not necessarily fond of what I do, but they know. They are of age to know.
Is dancing a great way to meet women?
It has its pros and cons. Women gravitate to me because of it, on the flip side, when it comes to being more serious, they shy away from me also because of it.
Are you single right now?
I’m not married but I just recently started a relationship.
Is she insecure about what you do?
Yes. She has her moments when she worries, you can understand that, I’m constantly meeting women because we travel all across the United States as well as overseas, the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Jamaica. That being said, constantly being on the road she knows that the opportunity is there, so she tends to worry at times.
How are you able to get past that?
I haven’t been able to get past it. It’s a work in progress, but she definitely means everything to me. The flip side of that is it’s a struggle. She has her doubts, especially with social media and Twitter and MySpace and all that. With all the women that can contact me, it’s a different situation.
It’s not like back in the day when it was just a cell phone. There are a lot of guys and girls that have gotten caught up doing what they were doing on Facebook and Twitter, and for those reasons, it makes her wonder what I could be doing.
What is your truth?
I’m getting older now, very close to retiring sometime soon and I’m looking more for stability and companionship — somebody who is truly going to look out for me and have my back. Before I was more so looking at a career and the money I could make, and everything else was secondary.
How do you incorporate social media into your business?
Raising awareness so that people can understand who I am and what they can expect from my brand. When you put it out there and you have a very good package, and they know when they come to your events the quality that you provide, that word-of-mouth spreads like wildfire. They’re talking and going on the website, www.4precious.com, we have calendars, and tee shirts … we’ve become a business.
How did you come up with Wanda’s Playhouse?
Well, I had been doing the show for the past four years in the city at the Holiday Inn, and I was doing the show four times a year. Back in the day this one place called The Mirage would have 400 girls.
Radio personality Porsche Foxx was hosting it and the radio station was broadcasting it and giving away tickets, and once that club closed, I knew that the next club that was able to get on the radio would blow up.
Radio was so expensive that was the reason a lot of the clubs weren’t doing radio. I sought out Wanda Smith and I kept talking to her about it and bringing my ideas to her and what not, and I know Wanda’s popularity and what I bring by doing the show, I knew that we would [create] a really powerful situation. It only made sense to call it Wanda’s Playhouse, that way the radio station would get behind it, push it and advertise it, whatever it takes, the whole nine.
What can patrons expect from Wanda’s Playhouse?
A good time. Good, clean fun. You’re going to laugh, you’re going to get your party on, and people will leave very well entertained. We’ve got guys of all different sizes and colors and from all different walks of life. We have something for everybody.
How do you prepare for work? Do you have a special workout routine or diet to remain so physically fit?
I have a high-protein, low-carb, diet and I train four times a week. I just try to take care of myself.
I don’t do any drugs. I do drink a little bit, but I try to stay away from alcohol. I’m just living life. I don’t want to have any regrets. I’m taking my time, I’m pacing myself and I’m not in a hurry.
At the same time I have an urgency about making things happen.
What is your best advice for men to keep it sexy for their women?
Listen. We don’t listen, and communication is definitely the most important thing in any situation. When it’s good or bad, we should talk about it.
What can women do to get what they want in the bedroom?
Communication. Hypothetically speaking, if you’re having relations and he’s not necessarily hitting where he needs to go or the way you like it, you should be able to tell him, “baby, faster, harder, deeper, stronger” whatever it is you like.
Communication can then supply your needs. Truly it’s a woman’s fault, anytime you all accept anything and you pretend and you’re faking to inflate the guy’s ego instead of making him necessarily hold true to what he’s supposed to be doing, which is pleasing you.
