Black Swan: The 5 Most Influential Black Ballerinas
Ash joined the NYC Ballet at age 18 and has been a professional dancer for more than 13 years. She performed with the NYC ballet for eight years dancing numerous soloist and principal roles. She left the company, because there were no black dancers. Later as a soloist she joined the legendary Bejart Ballet, in Lausanne Switzerland. After her success in Europe, she returned to the United states in 2005. She then joined Alonzo King’s Lines Ballet. After a tremendous amount of growth and learning, Aesha became a freelancer. She began working with Morphoses, founded by Christopher Wheeldon. She also appeared in the film Center Stage.
