Darren James: HIV
In April, 2004 the porn industry was rocked by a deadly scandal: Darren James, 40, one of the industry’s brightest stars, contracted HIV from having unprotected sex while filming bareback sex scenes with several women in Brazil. James returned to the States and brought the disease to the set of yet another hard-core, no condom shoot and infected three female co-stars with HIV.
PornoLand (California) shut down as producers and performers scrambled to quarantine anyone who had worked with Darren James. For three women, it was too little, too late — they had also contracted HIV.
