The latest episode of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” saw Phaedra Parks’ planned “Donkey Booty” DVD business deal with Kenya Moore crumble and burn as Moore accused Parks of being greedy when she refused to pay her 10 percent of the DVD’s profits. However, Parks recently used her Bravo Blog to share her side of the story regarding why the business deal went awry.
In the post, Parks refutes Moore’s claims that she’s a bad business woman and claims that she was being prudent when it comes to Moore, as she would anyone else.
“While I have been noted as many things, a less that astute business woman has not been one of them,” said Parks.
Parks claims that she and her husband, Apollo Nida, only asked Moore to produce their video, but Moore overstepped her bounds and then refused to handle the details of the deal in a proper manner.
“She instead wanted my husband and me to pay her $100K in production fees with a 10 percent back end for an idea she did not invest in or assist in developing,” Parks wrote. “Instead of her using an attorney, which is standard for most business transactions, she wanted to negotiate the deal herself and became offended when our attorney questioned her about her budget and alleged distribution deal that we never agreed to nor received any paperwork for.”
Parks then questioned Moore’s business skills.
“We never asked Kenya to secure a distribution deal, she did that on her own accord, we asked her to produce (i.e. tape/record and edit) our workout DVD. However, she used my name to solicit offers,” said Parks.
“Her time would have been used more wisely if she would have just been forthcoming with us, or better yet, hired an attorney to negotiate the deal,” she added. “We do hope that Kenya will invest in a Business 101 class and we wish her all the best!”
Despite the onscreen drama, Parks and Nida saw their workout DVD finally make it’s debut last month.
“Thankfully, we did not use her or her company and our Phine Body with Phaedra & Apollo Donkey Booty Volume I was successfully released on December 11 without a hitch or an emotional roller coaster attached to it!” she said.
Clearly, Parks and Moore will never be bedfellows – or friends – again, but they’re not the only “friends” who saw their business deals crash and burn. Check out some other bad reality show business deals below. – nicholas robinson
