Lerone Bennett III was considered the “Mayor of Facebook,” by friends and family, notes Crystal Wiley Brown, and the Johnson Publishing Company Alumni group is reeling from the loss. Facebook user and personal friend of the Bennett family, Ingrid R. Larkin noted on the group’s wall:
“This hits heavily, as Little Lerone was a big brother to me, and our families have been very close for many, many decades. This also hits heavily as his passing comes exactly three weeks to the day from the death of my OWN Father, on New Year’s Day. Please keep the entire Lerone Bennett Jr. family lifted high in your prayers.”
