Draya Michele: ‘I see you looking’

Draya Michele: 'I see you looking'

Is this why women don’t like Michele? Is it because she is such an open person sexually that other women feel threatened by her? Is it because she proclaimed publicly that she is bisexual?

“I just think that some women don’t like me because they don’t understand me. They don’t know the history, they don’t know where I come from,” she says, “so there’s a little bit of a misunderstanding. They think that I’m dressing for attention when in reality I’m just a free spirit.”

Well, just who is Draya Michele and what is she all about?

“I come from a small city in Pennsylvania near Philadelphia called Redding. I don’t know the population, but it’s nowhere near the size of L.A. It’s nowhere near the size of Philly. It’s very small. Everyone I went to elementary school with I went to high school with. So for me to be able to break out of there and into this Hollywood life, I take [things] a little bit differently because I’m not raised in this,” Michele says. “I came to Hollywood and I was a little wild. I met new people. But I’m changing and I’m letting people know that I get my a– up every day and work. I work during the daytime and I come alive at night. People don’t understand it. People don’t understand the party aspect of it. And I get paid to party, so why wouldn’t I? Who doesn’t want to party and make money partying? It’s like a win-win situation.”

It’s been a win-win for Michele on ”Basketball Wives LA” and she is looking to expand her brand in many different directions in the next few years. While she is doing this, Michele wants girls to know that they can handle their business knowing that they are going to have haters and not everyone is going to approve of what they do with their lives.

“A strong woman to me means that a woman can do it on [her] own. Whether she’s working, whether she’s going to school, whether she is a mother … whatever she is doing, she is doing it on her own. And whatever she is doing, she is succeeding at it and trying her hardest. That’s a strong woman to me,” says Michele.
