Connie Orlando is vice president of original programming at Black Entertainment Television (BET).

Myra J, best known for her years-long tenure on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show” started in the business as a comedienne, then transitioned to actress and is now a writer for “House of Payne” and “Meet the Browns” and several other popular sitcoms.


Steven Barnes has published 27 novels and over three million words of science fiction and fantasy. He’s been nominated for Hugo, Nebula, and Cable Ace awards.

Tananarive Due, Cosby Chair of Humanities at Spelman College, is a member of the Writers’ Guild of America and is the author of twelve novels and a civil rights memoir.


Erica Qualls is General Manager for the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, Georgia’s Largest Hotel. She was the person in charge when the movies Flight and Hunger Games were filmed there.

Pat Johnson was a founding board member of BWFN, serving for 15 years.

Evelyn Mims is a long-serving board member of BWFN, working tirelessly in the areas of fundraising, public relations and board recruitment.
