TEAM SHAKIRA

Garrett Gardner vs. Tawnya Reynolds

This was a close one. While Tawnya’s “Hell on Heels” was good, showing off her experience, Garrett’s version of Alex Clare’s “Too Close” showed how much he wants to stay in this competition. Garrett is taking the advice of his coach, Shakira which made his performance good enough for Shakira to make him a keeper.

Kris Thomas  vs. Mary Miranda

The first question of many was asked by Blake, “why did Shakira pair these two?” Kris’ voice is like no other and his song choice “What a Wonderful World” was a good choice to show how versatile it is. Sweet little Miranda chose “Every Breath You Take” and did well but it was very shaky. It was no question that Shakira would choose Kris T. to win this round.

Karina Iglesias vs Monique Abbadie

Shakira paired her two Miami Latinas for this round. Karina tried to play it safe with a simple rendidtion of “Are You Gonna Go My Way,” while Monique tried to do too much with Celine Dion’s “The Power of Love.” Neither artist put forth their best efforts or show but Shakira chose Karina sending her number one fan Monique back to Miami.

Sasha Allen vs Shawna P.

Another pair you have to ask, “WHY?” Sasha did her thing with “At Last.” She did a better job than Beyoncé’s performance of the same song at President Obama’s first inaugural dance in 2008. The experienced Shawna P held her own “Maybe I’m Amazed,” but the goosebumps that Sasha gave Shakira took over and she chose to send Shawna P home and Sasha to the next round.
