Photographer – Corey Reese

Model-turned-photographer Corey Reese offers advice to aspiring photographers.

You started off modeling, why the transition from in front to behind the camera?

Wow, crazy back story growing up I was never interested in modeling or photography. I received a full scholarship to play football at the college level and my lifelong goal was to play in the NFL. I wasn’t drafted after getting my degree and started modeling for fun. After much success modeling, I bought my first real camera in 2005, playing around. I called myself “Model with a Camera,” I was a model that liked to express himself creatively. The more I took pictures, that hobby became a burning passion. A lot of people still enjoy my images as a model but my joy has transitioned to behind the lens. I’m represented as talent but really only pursuing photography and cinematography.

What advice would you give to up and coming photographers?

*Be on time, respect people, have the right attitude and a great work ethic

*Never be afraid to make mistakes

*The business side of the company is just as important as the creative side. Creatively find what subject matter your good at and perfect it. Ask yourself “What is it that makes a potential client chose one photographer over another”? It’s about the look and experience you create for the client that’s why it’s important to find your style, people will book you based on this fact

You have had a growing list of celebrity clientele, how does it feel when you see the finished product?

It’s always exciting working with new clients not just celebrities but people in general. You start with a vision for the end product and there is nothing like helping bring it to life. It never gets old to me, its always rewarding to see their face and love for the work.

Where do you see your company in the next two years?

I see big things in the works for the company!  The ability to offer video production as well as photography has allowed my company to step into new domains. I see production houses setup in a few of my busy markets under the Corey Reese brand. It’s exciting times for sure!
