Ribs, burgers, hotdogs and other barbecue favorites
Backyard barbecues with the family can quickly pack on calories. With meats such as ribs, burgers, steaks and hot dogs containing large amounts of saturated fats, as well as, sodium, these great tasting grilling favorites can be bad for your health. Adding barbecue sauce and pairing them with side favorites like beans and potato salads adds even more calories. Of course, moderation is key or opting for meats like chicken and fish are a safer choice. Using lemon and olive oil with fresh herbs as a base for marinades will give meats lots a flavor without adding more sodium.
