The media has learned the identity of the murdered son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson who succumbed to blunt force head trauma sustained during a brutal beating last week, as well as the identity of Peterson’s ex-girlfriend.

Ann “Ashley” Doohen is the mother of Adrian Peterson‘s late 2-year-old son, Ty Doohen, EveryJoe.com and HollywoodLife.com report.

According to sources close to the family, a DNA test provided incontrovertible confirmation that Ty Doohen was conclusively the biological son of the superstar running back for the Minnesota Vikings. Peterson and the mother were reportedly going to meet up later this month in Souix Falls, S.D. so that Peterson could meet Ty Doohen for the first time and discuss regular visits in the future.

Doohen reportedly took to Facebook early in the morning on Oct. 11 to post a memoriam of her son, including photos of Ty Doohen as a newborn. Dozens of friends liked and commented on the picture as her son remained on life support, in critical condition. Tragically, the toddler passed away later that day.

Peterson’s ex is described as a wonderful mother, who showered her son with love and affection, according to EveryJoe.com. Her boyfriend, Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, is currently in custody on charges of aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault in the beating of Ty Doohen. He was formally charged in his first court appearance on Oct. 11. Speculation is that the charges will be upgraded in light of the child’s death.

Family members describe Ty Doohan as an “always happy toddler who loved watching football on television.”

Take a look at the photos of the late Ty Doohen as well as the mother, Ashley Doohen.
