Black Panthers confronted by white supremacists in Texas

NBPP
New Black Panther Party on guard

The New Black Panther Party (NBPP) held a rally in Hemphill, Texas near the city of Jasper, Texas calling for justice for the murder of black father Alfred Wright.  The group was joined by National Black United Front (NBUF) and several hundred protesters at the Sabine County seat of government. The county courthouse and administrative area were filled with peaceful yet angry black voices calling for justice. Reports stated that as you drove into the town, ‘heavily armored’ New Black Panther members stood at the ready to defend the protesters if there was any trouble.

This scene did not sit well with reports of known white supremacists confronting the group, cursing and hurling racial slurs.  A serious problem arose when one individual got in the face of brother Quanell X, leader of the Houston Branch of the NBPP. Police officers had to rescue the white supremacist before things got out of hand.

Quanell X then took the microphone and made a stunning accusation, “They say they found three drugs in Alfred Wright’s body. Why don’t you come out and tell everybody what we already know Sheriff Maddox; that your son is the biggest meth dealer in Sabine County? Why haven’t you prosecuted your own son Sheriff Maddox?”

Krystal Muhammad, National Chairwoman of NBPP, coordinated and organized the event with Quanell X, and Kofi Taharka, National Chairman of the NBUF. The rally took place at the conclusion of another rally held in Jasper, Texas by the Wright family.
