Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal’s decision not to expand Medicare under Obamacare has become very personal for one very sick woman. Doris Lewis, age 59, had been suffering with a tumor and she did not know how serious it was until it grew. The tumor grew to the size of a beach ball in the span of two months. According to Lewis she was turned away from four hospitals because of lack of insurance.
Lewis told Atlanta’s WSB News, “I didn’t know it was a tumor in there. I thought I was just gaining weight at first.” But the tumor became so painful she had to call 911. She was transported to Emory University Hospital where a doctor told her not to worry and that she would finally get treatment and surgery in June. Lewis’ tumor was found to be non-cancerous. It was wrapped around her ovaries.
