On Oct. 10, MBK/J-RCA Records recording artist Elle Varner took the stage at The Shrine in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood.
Preceded on stage by a couple of great instrumentalists, including the versatile Leon Q. Allen, Varner quickly got the crowd on her side by breezing through her catalog and interacting with the captive audience to keep them on their toes. At one point, Varner even grabbed one lucky audience member’s phone and snapped a selfie of herself while performing. Undaunted by audio difficulties when she wanted to slow the show down and play her guitar, Varner rigged a mic and proceeded to strum out a couple heartfelt tunes before slyly transitioning to her big hit, “Refill” much to the crowd’s delight.
