By now, most people have seen the popular YouTube video titled “Man smacks the soul out of girl.” In the video, subway rider Jorge Pena, 25, is verbally and physically attacked by fellow passenger Danay Howard, 21, on the New York subway F train. After being struck by her high-heeled stiletto shoes, he finally had enough and delivered the most epic slap ever captured on cellphone video. A wild fight ensued after the slap and eventually four people were arrested. Pena and Howard were part of the four that police charged with disorderly conduct and assault.
Pena had to spend four nights in jail while police investigated the incident. Now he is a free man with all charges dropped aginst him this week by the NYPD. Pena stated to the media “I never slapped anyone before. Especially a girl. But when I saw the blood, I couldn’t take it. She attacked me like a man.” Pena’s defense attorney, Cary London, stated “Thank God for smart phones. The DA’s office was able to have all of the information in front of them at an early stage to show that our client did nothing wrong and acted in self-defense.”
As for Pena, he is thankful that the ordeal is over; however, he plans to sue the city of New York over his four day imprisonment. In addition, he is upset because he can no longer wear his favorite “8 Ball jacket” stating, “I love this jacket. But I don’t think I can wear it anymore. People will just know me because of it and what happened.”
