De’Andre Johnson smacks woman in the face at Tallahasee bar
Florida State University quarterback De’Andre Johnson, 19. at the Tallahassee bar Yiannis was caught on video punching a fellow customer in the face on June 24. The female customer, who is white, raises her fist and is seen kneeing him in the stomach/groin area. Instead of turning the other check, Johnson gives her a 1-2 punch – his right hook.
The State Attorney’s Office in Tallahassee issued an arrest warrant for Johnson on Tuesday. He is being charged with battery.
The unidentified blonde allegedly suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose, as indicated to court records.
According to the state attorney and prosecutor Willie Meggs, the woman still had the black eye when she met with prosecutors Tuesday.
Johnson’s criminal defense attorney Jose Baez said in a news release he “would investigate the accusations against Johnson thoroughly.”
FSU’s athletics policy reads if a student-athlete is being charged with a misdemeanor or felony, or convicted of a misdemeanor offense, the department would make a decision on discipline on a case-by-case basis.
Athletes convicted of a felony are expelled from the school, per the policy.
