A conservative news anchor dedicated time on her show to speak against the way President Barack Obama is dealing with Muslims and Muslim terrorists. Her video has now gone viral, with over two million views.
Tomi Lahren, 22, is the anchor of “On Point with Tomi Lahren” on the One America News Network. On Friday’s show, she responded to the recent shooting of four U.S. Marines that occurred at a military site in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She blasted President Obama for being too gentle on Muslims and said that “radical Islam is becoming the rule, not the exception.”
“Four United States Marines are now dead. Climate change didn’t kill them. Lack of free community college didn’t kill them. The income gap, wage inequality — nope, not those things either. Gay marriage? Nope. White racism? Not that either. So what did? President Obama, if you won’t say it, I will: radical Islam,” she said.
The shooter was Mohammad Abdulazeez, a 24-year-old Kuwait-born Muslim who was on the wrestling team in high school and graduated from the University of Tennessee of Chattanooga. Last Thursday, he opened fire at two military bases, killing four Marines and injuring three other people, one of whom later succumbed to his injuries. Abdulazeez was killed by police after the attack.
“I’m sorry but radical Islam is becoming the rule, not the exception. Yesterday’s moderate is today’s terrorist,” Lahren said. “I care that this SOB killed four of our United States Marines, and I care that our Commander in Chief is more concerned with Muslim sensitivity than the honor and sacrifice made by these Marines.”
Lahren, a South Dakota native with journalism and political science degrees from UNLV, told her viewers that the issue of terrorist attacks on troops is especially close to her heart because she comes from a family of Marines.
‘I’ve had it with this failed strategy — this half-way, half-baked, tip-toe, be-friendly-to-Jihadis mentality pushed by this administration. Be a leader, someone,” she continued. “‘They, the radical Islamists have brought the fight right here to the red, white and blue, and it’s about time we bring it to them. Full force. Let’s show them what the United States of America looks like up close and personal.”
Fellow conservatives applauded the young anchor for her passionate rant.
“Thank you @TomiLahren for finally saying what needed to be said. Enough is enough. #americaonpoint,” wrote one Twitter user, @RyckiEbert.
But some found her opinions to be very anti-Muslim.
“I don’t care about your family history. Give facts instead of shocking statement designed to rally people who shop at Walmart,” @Superhawk33 wrote, adding, “furthermore the person who shot the marines was a American. The fact that he was Muslim doesn’t represent all Muslim Americans.”
Others dismissed her views for singling out Muslim terrorists while ignoring other groups who engage in similar terroristic behavior.
“Where was your rant when the White guy killed nine Blacks? Oh right, they’re not important!” @saltyboxer posted.
Lahren, who was asked to anchor her own show after interviewing for an internship, has been receiving a great deal of attention from Fox News and other news outlets since her video went viral. She said that people have accused her of being a “bimbo” and using her platform to audition for a job at Fox News, but she insists she was just expressing what was in her heart.
