Last week, former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kim Zolciak had a major health scare when she suffered a mini-stroke after an appearance on “Dancing With the Stars.” A new report reveals that Zolciak was actually lucky to have the mini-stroke because it lead doctors to learn that she has an underlying illness.

As previously reported, Zolciak was rushed to the hospital on Thursday, Sept. 17 after her flight from L.A. landed and she began to experience symptoms of a stroke. Zolciak lost feeling on one side of her body and even lost the ability to speak, but her symptoms subsided after she received treatment.

Zolciak initially thought she would be able to leave the hospital soon after her stroke, but when doctors performed tests on her, they learned that she had a serious underlying heart condition. It’s unclear what the illness is, but Zolciak would’ve never known about the illness had she not had the stroke.

Doctors reportedly performed a procedure on Friday to deal with the illness, but there’s no information on what the procedure was. Had the illness not been treated, it likely would’ve become life-threatening for Zolciak.
