Many celebrities attempt to lay claim to the throne of “Hotlanta,” but only one may call himself the key holder.
Over the weekend, Jussie Smollett, actor on hit show “Empire“ and face of Sean John’s Fall/Holiday 2015 Dream Big campaign, was presented with a proclamation from the city of Atlanta during a meet-and-greet at Macy’s Lenox Square. One of the highest honors normally given to esteemed residents and visitors, Smollett graciously received the key to the city bestowed by councilman Kwanza Hall.
Sean John’s Dream Big campaign, which features young influencers living out their dreams far beyond limitations, partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta to select ten deserving kids to meet the campaign star. The highlight of the event was when Sean John presented a check for $5K to the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta, and Smollett, who truly exemplifies the meaning of Dream Big, also wrote a $5K check to the organization to further support their efforts. He was accompanied by Jeffrey Tweedy (president, Sean Jean), Dean Arcuri (VP of Marketing & Creative Services, Sean John), Ryan Cameron (V103) and Kwanza Hall (city councilman).
During the Q-and-A session, Smollett stated, “It was an honor receiving the key to the city. The people are so beautiful and lovely to me. I love Atlanta.”
Congrats to Smollett on this major achievement. Well deserved.
Following the event, Smollett tweeted about his first Waffle House experience, which was pretty funny. Check out his tweets:
