Rev. Jesse Jackson, PUSH and community leaders gathered on Sunday, Dec. 6 to continue to protest the killing of Laquan McDonald, who died in October 2014 after being shot 16 times by a police officer.
Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy was fired by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, but the public feels that two more people need to be held accountable and step down over the delayed release of the tape of McDonald’s shooting. The two people whose names were chanted throughout the crowd as protesters called for their resignations were Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.
The march concluded at the the Illinois State Building and various politicians, preachers and activists spoke and prayed throughout the march.
