The music scene in Chicago is explosive and many artists are on the brink of breaking into the main stream. With 2016 on the horizon, we have provided a list of five Chicago artists that are headed to the next level. Take a look. Let us know what you think.

1.BJ The Chicago Kid

Soul music has not gone anywhere. It has resurfaced in the form of BJ The Chicago Kid. His voice is reminiscent of D’Angelo and his songwriting is visual. BJ has been in the industry working with industry powerhouses like Kanye West and Kendrick Lamar. His style is distinctive and has a way of stealing the shine on guest spots. His most recent mixtape, The M.A.F.E. Project., released in 2014, has helped his star rise. His earlier release, Pineapple Now-Laters, is quintessential Chicago and also deserves a listen. We are looking forward to what this young man has to offer us in 2016.
