Chrisette Michele gave fans some amazing news late last year when she announced that her boyfriend, music producer and manager Doug Ellison, had proposed to her. Since then, Michele and Ellison have had plenty of time to think about wedding ideas and now Michele has finally opened up about the details of the big day.
In a recent interview with TheJasmineBrand.com, Michele revealed the theme of her wedding to Ellison.
“I’m gonna do The Great Gatsby theme as the wedding. So it’s gotta be…really just extra. Very grand, very silly, very fun. Very not serious. So I’m hoping that Tamar Braxton is not incredibly busy that day and she can fly in real quick, do a little ditty, do a little dance, and head back to her show,” Michele said.
Michele then spoke about her tumultuous past with Ellison, whom she met and began dating at the beginning of her career before suffering a major falling out with him.
“We started off as manager and artist 12 years ago way before I got signed. Then we got into the music industry and things got incredibly shaky,” Michele said.
In previous interviews, Michele revealed that the shakiness began when their personal relationship got caught up in their crumbling business relationship, which, sadly, resulted in a lawsuit between the two.
“Early on to the business relationship, things got crazy! If you’ve never read about it, if you’ve never heard about it, we were in the midst of a crazy, crazy lawsuit, litigation situation with each other, and we hadn’t spoken for literally seven years. I finally walked away from the major record label side of the business and started my own label, Rich Hipster, which got signed right away to Caroline/Capital Records. I had fun with it, but I knew something was missing,” Michele said in an interview last year.
Now, Michele says that she and Ellison realized last year after finally speaking to each other after their seven-year silence that they no longer wanted to be apart.
“Long story short, when it was all said and done, when it was all over, we decided that we didn’t want to be in this music industry alone. So I started my record label and then I was like, ‘I don’t wanna do that without him’ and he didn’t want to do his life without me so we decided to do our lives together,” Michele said.
But that’s not all that Michele discussed. Read about her idea for a new reality series based off her romance with Ellison, after the cut.
