Washington, D.C., was the last stop of Pepsi’s #TheRecipe tour, which featured Angela Simmons and Mack Wilds as celebrity hosts.

Pepsi teamed up with the NFL to acknowledge the young men and women who are achieving great things while paying homage to the past that paved their way. The four-city tour’s finale was held at the historic Howard Theatre in Washington, D.C. The iconic space has been a landmark in the “Chocolate City” since the early 1900s for being a place that embraced Black entertainers during segregation. In celebration of Black History Month, the panel was recognized for achieving their dreams and promoting positive change.

Panelists included TV One’s youngest SVP, Lori Hall; director of African American outreach for the White House, Stephanie L. Young; Washington Redskins wide receiver, Pierre Garçon; and President Barack Obama’s former “body man” and now Vice Media’s sports editor-at-large, Reggie Love.

#TheRecipe represents ingredients to promote personal success. Pepsi created a website (#TheRecipe) with the opportunity to take a quiz and share your own ingredients to success. Attendees were encouraged to engage the site and share tool using social media.

Networking up-and-comers, students and rising stars shared the experience by listening to the success stories from the panelists as well as the freedom to pick their brains with intriguing questions about their struggles, hardships and disappointments. The volume of Black excellence in the room was inspiring.

Even though we all have the responsibility of celebrating Black history 365 days out of the year, this event ended Black History Month on a high note.
